Music Minor

Music minors must complete 21 units as outlined below.

Minor Requirements (20 units)


Music Theory


Take 6 units from the following courses:

Note: It is recommended that the following be taken concurrently: MUS 111 & MUS 115 and MUS 112 & MUS 116.

Basic Keyboard


Placement determined by instructor.  Take 2 units from the following:

Lower Division Electives


Take 3 units from the following:

Note: Audition required for acceptance into all Applied Music Study except: MUS 261E, MUS 262A, and MUS 263.  Applied Study is limited to 3 semesters.

Upper Division Electives


Take 9 units from the following in consultation with departmental advisor.  

Note: MUS 351-MUS 355 are repeatable courses up to 8 total units. MUS 364 is repeatable up to 4 units.
