MUS 369C - Jazz Singers


Units: 1
Small vocal ensemble focusing on repertoire for chamber choir, mixed voices, that is drawn from jazz, pop, and world traditions. Auditions required.

Equivalent Quarter Course: MUS 3562.
Repeatability: May be repeated for credit for a maximum of 4 units.
Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground.
Grading: A-F or CR/NC (student choice).
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
 

  1. Sing, alone and with others, a varied repertoire of music from the jazz and popular traditions.
  2. Improvise in the jazz tradition.
  3. Read and notate music.
  4. Listen to, analyze, and describe music in the jazz tradition.
  5. Evaluate music and music performances.
  6. Understand relationships between music, the other arts, and disciplines outside the arts.
  7. Understand music in relation to history and culture.
