MUS 667B - Graduate Applied Study: Jazz Composition Units: 1 Individual instruction for music majors or minors with Graduate-level performance ability. Audition required. At the end of the second semester of study, students demonstrate their progress before a faculty jury. A failed jury results in a failing grade for the course.
Prerequisites: Department consent. Equivalent Quarter Course: MUS 6690. Repeatability: May be repeated for credit for a maximum of 8 units. Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground. Grading: A-F grading only. Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
- Compose works for multiple media as determined by the student and agreed upon by the instructor.
- Gain knowledge and mastery of the techniques used in composing Western art music through composition, analysis, and listening to music of various genres and styles.
- Bring selected works to a performance-level standard of completion.
