MUS 364 - African Drumming Ensemble


Units: 1
Ensemble to explore repertoire for small and large combinations of African drums and percussion instruments. Field trip(s) may be required.

Equivalent Quarter Course: MUS 3536.
Repeatability: may be repeated for credit for a maximum of 4 units.
Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground.
Grading: A-F or CR/NC (student choice).
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
  1. Students will be able to perform, alone and with others, a varied repertoire of music.
  2. Students will be able to listen to, analyze, and describe music from Africa.
  3. Students will be able to evaluate music and music performances.
  4. Students will be able to understand relationships between music, the other arts, and disciplines outside the arts.
  5. Students will be able to understand music in relation to the history and culture of Africa.
