MUS 601B - Analysis of Musical Styles II Units: 3 Analysis of compositional styles from chant to present-day music. Compositional principles are derived from the music with results then generalized according to composer and period.
Prerequisites: M.A. Music major. Equivalent Quarter Course: MUS 6016. Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground. Grading: A-F grading only. Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
- Actively participate in seminar discussions focused on important and relevant issues in the analysis of music.
- Address complex and challenging questions related to music theory and musical analysis through the application of critical thinking, analytical reasoning, and research methodology.
- Communicate your findings clearly and persuasively through both written and verbal means.
