MUS 412 - Contrapuntal Techniques Units: 3 Contrapuntal procedures from the 16th through the 20th centuries with an emphasis on the music of J.S. Bach and its influence on later composers.
Prerequisites: MUS 312. Equivalent Quarter Course: MUS 3062. Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground. Grading: A-F or CR/NC (student choice). Course Typically Offered: Fall Alternate Years
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to: - Develop skills in the composition and analysis of 18th century polyphonic music.
- Mastery and understanding of the principles of counterpoint.
- Develop historical and technical insight into the structure of Baroque music.
- Demonstrate skill in combining musical lines.
