MUS 233 - Teaching Brass Instruments Units: 1 Presents pedagogy and techniques for teaching trumpet, French horn, trombone, and tuba in a school ensemble setting.
Equivalent Quarter Course: MUS 2355 and MUS 2355. Students must have taken both MUS 2355-01 and MUS 2355-02 to demonstrate equivalency for this course. Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground. Grading: A-F or CR/NC (student choice). Course Typically Offered: Variable Intermittently
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to: - Learn the basic skills and mechanics involved with playing the trumpet, French horn, trombone, and tuba.
- Perform scales, studies, and solo material appropriate to elementary-level brass students.
- Implement pedagogical techniques and examine common issues/difficulties appropriate to beginning brass students.
- Survey and analyze pedagogical materials, e.g. methods and solo literature, for elementary brass students.
