MUS 441 - Intermediate Conducting


Units: 3
Special techniques of choral conducting including vocal and score reading and analysis, interpretation, and rehearsal through observation and laboratory experience.

Prerequisites: MUS 341 and junior, senior or post-baccalaureate standing.
Equivalent Quarter Course: MUS 3380 and MUS 3390.
Repeatability: May be repeated for credit for a maximum of 6 units.
Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground.
Grading: A-F or CR/NC (student choice).
Course Typically Offered: Variable Intermittently


Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
  1. Demonstrate the ability to analyze and read vocal and instrumental scores
  2. Independently conduct student choral and instrumental groups.
  3. Demonstrate mastery of standard conducting patterns and gestures.
  4. Conduct music in an interpretive and expressive manner.
  5. Demonstrate knowledge of notable conductors and conducting scholarship
