MUS 615 - Seminar in Music of the Twentieth & Twenty-First Centuries


Units: 3
Musical styles, forms and performance practice from late 19th century to the present with detailed analyses of representative works and close reading of historical writings.

Prerequisites: M.A. Music major.
Equivalent Quarter Course: MUS 6180.
Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground.
Grading: A-F grading only.
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
  1. Actively participate in seminar discussions focused on important and relevant issues in the history of music.
  2. Address complex and challenging questions related to music history through the application of critical thinking, analytical reasoning, and research methodology.
  3. Communicate your findings clearly and persuasively through both written and verbal means.
  4. Work cooperatively and respectfully with classmates on classroom, research, and presentation projects.
