MUS 608B - Interactivity with Sound & Music II Units: 3 Continuation of Interactive Sound & Music I. Detailed study of the use of consumer hardware in conjunction with software protocols for controlling sound and music over computer networks. Rudimentary algorithmic music composition.
Prerequisites: MUS 608A. Equivalent Quarter Course: MUS 6086. Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground. Grading: A-F grading only. Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
- Demonstration of data protocol knowledge, their particulars, and the potential for their use in creating interactive content using the main protocols used are MIDI and OSC.
- Build a knowledge of existing interactive repertoire that is music or sound focused.
- Create meaningful, expressive, and simple programming using control structures and conditional statements and an understanding of their abstract function in programming and art.
- Build a vocabulary of terms associated with music, sound design, audio production, rudimentary programming and data networking.
- Articulate expectations to classmates about work expectations and responsibilities when working in groups.
