MUS 370C - Sight-reading Ensemble


Units: 1
Jazz ensemble focusing on continual honing of sight-reading abilities through continual practice and performance of works unseen previous to rehearsal. Field trips may be required. Audition required.

Equivalent Quarter Course: MUS 3559.
Repeatability: May be repeated for credit for a maximum of 6 units.
Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground.
Grading: A-F grading only.
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
 

  1. Students will be able to perform alone and with others, a varied repertoire of jazz and world music.
  2. Students will be able to read and notate music.
  3. Students will be able to listen to, analyze, and describe music.
  4. Students will be able to evaluate music and music performances.
  5. Students will be able to understand relationships between music, the other arts, and disciplines outside the arts.
  6. Students will be able to understand music in relation to history and culture.
