California Studies Minor

Program Description
The California Studies Minor offers coursework on California with emphasis on the state’s history, government, geography, ethnic diversity, and environment. Such a focus on California’s diverse and sizable population, economic development, and geo-social regions will better prepare graduates to address the ongoing economic, demographic, and social evolution challenging California and its political institutions.

Minor Requirements (28-29 units)
The minor consists of 28-29 units. At least 18 of these units must be taken outside the student’s major.
I. Core Requirements (20-21 units)

Other Undergraduate Degree Requirements

These include the General Education-Breadth requirements; the second composition (ENGL 1002 ) requirement; the cultural groups/women requirement; the performing arts/activities requirement; the U.S. history, U.S. Constitution, and California state and local government requirement; the University Writing Skills Requirement; and the residence, unit, and grade point average requirements.
