Program: Data Science Minor - CSU East Bay

The Data Science minor is designed to complement majors in other disciplines to allow students exposure to data science and computational statistics methods. The minor aims to provide students with a working knowledge of statistical and data science techniques to think critically and carry out computational and inferential analysis in their field. The minor is very flexible, allowing students from many majors a pathway to this minor that serves their current and future needs.

Introductory Core

Choose one (1) course for 3 units from the following:

STAT 303 - Statistical Methods in Biology Units: 3
STAT 310 - Statistical Methods in the Social Sciences Units: 3
STAT 330 - Statistical Inference Units: 3

Interdisciplinary Electives

Choose two (2) courses for 6 units from the following:

CS 100 - Programming for Everyone Units: 3
CS 200 - Advanced Programming for Everyone Units: 3
CS 211 - Discrete Structures Units: 3
CS 370 - Databases for Social and Health Sciences Units: 3
PH 465 - Health Data and Information Management Units: 3
MATH 215 - Introduction to Linear Algebra Units: 3
MATH 211 - Discrete Structures Units: 3

Advanced Core

The following courses for 9 units are required as outlined below:
