About the Certificate
The Public History Certificate provides foundational skills, knowledge, and experiences for early or entry-level careers in the fields of public history, museum studies, curation, archival and historic preservation, and cultural resource management. The certificate also offers preparation for advanced studies at the M.A. or Ph.D. levels.
The Public History Certificate is available to History and Anthropology BA and MA majors who have completed their lower-division requirements and who anticipate careers in public history or cultural resource management. Graduate students will need to consult with their Graduate Coordinator to explore course substitutions, and may need to complete additional units beyond the 30 units typically required for an MA degree.
