Sociology Minor


This program seeks to foster a lifelong love of learning about the social, cultural, political, and economic institutions of the United States and globally.  Students will be prepared to understand government and organizational policies and their role in reshaping them toward a better future. The minor prepares students for work in non-profits, schools, government offices, social work, counseling and other areas. Some students also pursue graduate degrees in Sociology, Social Work, Law, Counseling, Education, and Public Administration.

Take three (3) additional SOC 300 or 400 courses as electives. STAT 100 or any other statistics course may be substituted for one Sociology elective. Choose 11-12 units of elective coursework:

Please Note:


Sociology minors cannot take SOC 499, Sociology Capstone Project or the one (1) unit Capstone Project Support course, SOC 492.

Sociology minors cannot take SOC 345, American Society. (This course is for upper division Area D4 only.)
