Chinese Language and Culture Minor

Minor Requirements (15-27 units)

Students may be exempt from lower division courses and may challenge elementary and intermediate courses by exam. Students who test out of some of the lower division courses will be required to take additional upper division elective courses to meet the 15 unit minimum for the minor.

Lower Division Core

The lower-division core consists of 0-16 units. Students who are not exempt must take four (4) of the following courses for 16 units:

MLL 161 - Elementary Mandarin Chinese I Units: 4 ; G.E./G.R. Area: C2
MLL 162 - Elementary Mandarin Chinese II Units: 4 ; G.E./G.R. Area: C1
MLL 261 - Intermediate Mandarin Chinese I Units: 4 ; G.E./G.R. Area: C2
MLL 262 - Intermediate Mandarin Chinese II Units: 4

Upper Division Core

All Chinese Language and Culture minor students must take the two (2) bilingual advanced language courses for 8 units:

Upper Division Elective

All Chinese Language and Culture minor students must choose at least one (1) course for 3 units. Students who test out of some or all of the lower division courses are required to take additional electives from the list below to reach the minimum 15 units of the minor.
