ANTH 121 - Experimental Archaeology Laboratory Units: 1 ; Breadth Area: GE-5C Love hands-on learning? Curious about archaeology and ancient technology? If so, ANTH 121 is the lab for you! It introduces students to experimental archaeological methods, including mud brick construction, stone tool technology, and ceramics production (depending on materials availability). Student Instructions: May be taken as a companion course to ANTH 120, but that is not required. No archaeological experience is necessary.
Breadth Area(s) Satisfied: GE-5C - Lower Division Laboratory Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground. Grading: A-F or CR/NC (student choice). Course Typically Offered: Variable Intermittently
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
- To apply basic qualitative and quantitative archaeological research methods and skills;
- To identify archaeological artifacts, botanical materials, and animal remains and explain their significance in the science of human history;
- To apply scientific concepts in archaeological experimentation.
