ES 369 - Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander Health, Wellness and Healing

This course explores Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) health, the historical, structural, and cultural contexts of AANHPI communities, and role of race, ethnicity, and socioeconomic status in producing unequal outcomes across AANHPI subgroups and other racial/ethnic groups.

Prerequisites: Completion of GE Areas A1, A2, A3 and B4 with grade C- (CR) or better.
Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground, or Hybrid, or Online-Asynchronous, or Online-Synchronous.
Grading: A-F or CR/NC (student choice).
Course Typically Offered: Fall & Spring


Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
  1. Analyze health disparities, health policies and different health interventions from an Ethnic Studies equity-focused framework;
  2. Synthesize different research studies to critically examine a particular health concern impacting AANHPI communities or multiple health concerns that impact a particular AANHPI community;
  3. Discuss the intersection of race, ethnicity, health, and wellness;
  4. Articulate individualized wellness plan and test a hypothesis on how that wellness plan impacts their overall health and wellness over a 13-week period.
