NURS 606 - Advanced Concepts in Pathophysiology, Pharmacology, and Health Assessment

This course lays the foundation for advanced nursing practice and organizational effectiveness by introducing and reinforcing concepts of advanced pharmacology, pathophysiology and physical health assessment.

Possible Instructional Methods: Hybrid or Online-Asynchronous.
Grading: Grading: A-F grading only.

Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
  1. Integrate physiology and pathogenesis of commonly encountered diseases across the lifespan and special populations.
  2. Analyze risk factors, symptomatology, and diagnostic findings to select clinical actions and prioritize interventions.
  3. Integrate pharmacological principles and research advances in pharmacotherapy to evaluate safety and efficacy of drug therapy for patients with selected illnesses.
  4. Demonstrate understanding of interprofessional collaboration to facilitate patient management and promote optimal health outcomes.
  5. Perform a comprehensive health assessment in a concise and systematic manner.
  6. Critically appraise current academic literature according to evidence-based practice principles and apply decision making skills to formulate and evaluate a plan of care.
