STAT 640B - Advanced Statistical Theory II


Units: 2
Theory of hypothesis testing, Neyman-Person Lemma, likelihood ratio tests, generalized likelihood ratio test, large sample theory of hypothesis testing, p-values, Randomization testing, Bayesian inference.

Prerequisites: STAT 640A
Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground, or Hybrid, or Online-Asynchronous, or Online-Synchronous.
Grading: A-F grading only.
Course Typically Offered: Fall & Spring


Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
1. Demonstrate the use of probability models.
2. Formulate and model practical problems using advanced hypothesis tests.
3. Use appropriate software to simulate random numbers from probability models and demonstrate the long-run properties for stochastic probability models.
