SW 306 - Transition to Social Work Practicum

Preparation for the senior year practicum experience for BSW majors. Guidance through the placement process in weekly classroom and one-to-one advising sessions.

Prerequisites: Admission to the BSW program. Successful completion of SW 300, SW 301, and SW 325W.
Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground, or Hybrid, or Online-Synchronous.
Grading: CR/NC grading only.
Course Typically Offered: Spring ONLY

Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:

Reflect on personal strengths and areas for growth in the context of future social work career goals.
Identify and analyze one’s personal ethical conflicts which may occur during the practicum experience.
Understand and begin to apply the concepts of cultural responsiveness and humility by planning and preparing for their internship, which will involve working with diverse individuals, families, groups, and communities.
Define and recognize their professional roles as mandated reporters and the concomitant responsibilities.
