SW 306 - Transition to Social Work Practicum Units: 2 Preparation for the senior year practicum experience for BSW majors. Guidance through the placement process in weekly classroom and one-to-one advising sessions.
Prerequisites: Admission to the BSW program. Successful completion of SW 300, SW 301, and SW 325W. Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground, or Hybrid, or Online-Synchronous. Grading: CR/NC grading only. Course Typically Offered: Spring ONLY
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
- Reflect on personal strengths and areas for growth in the context of future social work career goals.
- Identify and analyze one’s personal ethical conflicts which may occur during the practicum experience.
- Understand and begin to apply the concepts of cultural responsiveness and humility by planning and preparing for their internship, which will involve working with diverse individuals, families, groups, and communities.
- Define and recognize their professional roles as mandated reporters and the concomitant responsibilities.
