ACCT 642 - Data Analytics in Accounting II

Develop an analytic mindset to ask the right questions, extract, transform and load relevant accounting data. Apply basic and advanced data analytics skills to interpret, perform predictive analytics, and share the results with stakeholders using visualization design principles and techniques.

Prerequisites: ACCT 641.
Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground, or Hybrid, or Online-Asynchronous, or Online-Synchronous.
Grading: A-F grading only.
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
 

  1. Explain data visualization design principles.
  2. Describe and apply ETL (extract, transform and load relevant data) in accounting.
  3. Use Excel to perform data analysis in accounting.
  4. Analyze accounting data to generate appropriate data visualizations using Tableau.
  5. Apply statistical analysis techniques, such as regression for predictive analytics applicable to accounting profession.
  6. Recall current development in accounting data analytics.
