ART 475 - Advanced 2D Practice


Units: 3
An intensive study of the methodology and conceptual development of two dimensional art. Through topic-based assignments, material explorations and concentration on the creation of a personal art aesthetic, students will further develop their use of two dimensional media.

Prerequisites: ART 370 or ART 472.
Strongly Recommended Preparation: ART 474.
Repeatability: May be repeated for credit for a maximum of 6 units.
Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground.
Grading: A-F or CR/NC (student choice).
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
 

  1. Produce paintings, collages, drawings and mixed media that intentionally incorporate and/or examine historical and contemporary approaches to 2D media, both conceptually and materially.
  2. Develop an advanced individual working process based on class prompts, research and content development.
  3. Further develop conceptual and material intentions in written and oral formats, generate research and apply these to the creation of finished works.
  4. Evaluate and critique finished works and receive criticism from others.
  5. Safely handle and maintain materials, studio facilities, and equipment.
