ART 475 - Advanced 2D Practice Units: 3 An intensive study of the methodology and conceptual development of two dimensional art. Through topic-based assignments, material explorations and concentration on the creation of a personal art aesthetic, students will further develop their use of two dimensional media.
Prerequisites: ART 370 or ART 472. Strongly Recommended Preparation: ART 474. Repeatability: May be repeated for credit for a maximum of 6 units. Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground. Grading: A-F or CR/NC (student choice). Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
- Produce paintings, collages, drawings and mixed media that intentionally incorporate and/or examine historical and contemporary approaches to 2D media, both conceptually and materially.
- Develop an advanced individual working process based on class prompts, research and content development.
- Further develop conceptual and material intentions in written and oral formats, generate research and apply these to the creation of finished works.
- Evaluate and critique finished works and receive criticism from others.
- Safely handle and maintain materials, studio facilities, and equipment.
