SPAN 241 - Intermediate Spanish I: Hispanophone Cultures


Units: 4 ; Breadth Area: GE-3B
The first semester of the intermediate course, with increased emphasis on the structure of the language and the conversation. Develop affective and cognitive faculties through studying for the humanities and show the appreciation of the cultures of the Hispanophone world.

Prerequisites: SPAN 142.
Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground, or Hybrid, or Online-Asynchronous.
Grading: A-F or CR/NC (student choice).

Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
 

  1. Integrate grammar, vocabulary, idiomatic expressions, and culture to communicate both orally and writing at intermediate level.
  2. Recognize his/her own errors in writing and use self-corrections as a strategy to use Spanish more accurately.
  3. Describe, compare, and contrast aspects of the culture diversity of the Spanish world.
  4. Demonstrate interpretative and critical thinking skills with respect to literary texts, readings, and short videos or films.
  5. Exchange thoughts about current issues, news, activities, and events in their personal lives or communities in Spanish at intermediate level
