MLL 221 - Intermediate French I: Francophone Cultures


Units: 4 ; Breadth Area: GE-3B
A continuation of MLL 122 , with increased emphasis on the structure of the language, on vocabulary building and conversation, and on the appreciation of the cultures of the French-speaking world.

Breadth Area(s) Satisfied: GE-3B - Arts and Humanities (Humanities)
Prerequisites: MLL 122.
Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground, or Hybrid, or Online-Asynchronous.
Grading: A-F or CR/NC (student choice).
Course Typically Offered: Variable Intermittently


Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
 

  1. Students will be able to express themselves with sufficient accuracy and clarity to carry on conversations in French with native speakers and to give oral presentations appropriate to the Undergraduate level. 
  2. They will also have the ability to convey critical ideas in both academic and social contexts. 
  3. They will also learn to communicate with and listen to others in a respectful way.
  4. They will equally learn primarily cultural ethnic diversity from around the Francophone world, and other forms of diversity, such as gender issues.
  5. Through in-class discussions and group work, students will also learn how to work collaboratively in an open-minded and respectful way.
  6. This will prepare them for their future workplace.
