BAN 612 - Data Analytics


Units: 3
Data collection, preparation, visualization, and analysis with software applications. Topics include: web scraping, Application Program Interface (API) data collection, data wrangling, visualization, data type and structure, and computational and quantitative methods.

Prerequisites: BAN 601 or ITM 330, BAN 602 or MGMT 350
Strongly Recommended Preparation: College Algebra, Statistics and Object-Oriented Programming.
Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground or Hybrid.
Grading: A-F grading only.
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
 

  1. Utilize software and write computer scripts to scrape, parse, and read web data as well as access data using web Application Program Interfaces (APIs).
  2. Construct computer programs to clean, prepare, and visualize data.
  3. Apply computational and quantitative methods to analyze data.
