MATH 370 - Numerical Analysis I


Units: 3
A review of computer storage of real numbers and finite precision arithmetic. Algorithms for root-finding, solving linear systems of equations, numerical differentiation and integration, and solving ordinary differential equations. Practical solutions of problems from science, engineering, and mathematics.

Prerequisites: MATH 210 or MATH 215 with a grade C- or better, and MATH 305 with grade C- or better.
Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground.
Grading: A-F or CR/NC (student choice).
Course Typically Offered: Spring ONLY


Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
 

  1. Apply the definitions, techniques and theorems of numerical analysis.
  2. Apply numerical algorithms to solve real world problems.
  3. Communicate solutions to problems in numerical analysis effectively.
