KIN 375 - Concepts of Teaching Aquatics Units: 3 Techniques and tactics for the teaching of aquatic activities. Understand and apply the California State Framework for Physical Education. Participation required. Lecture Units: 2; Activity Units: 1.
Prerequisites: Department consent. Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground. Grading: A-F grading only. Course Typically Offered: Variable Intermittently
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
- Attain a basic knowledge of the California State Physical Education Standards as they relate to aquatics and aquatic related outdoor/adventure activities.
- Develop a personal philosophy regarding experiential education.
- Demonstrate proficient movement skills in aquatics.
- Combine and apply movement patterns, simple to complex in aquatic activities.
- Design and teach programs that instruct people how to be safe in or around water.
- Be able to set specific and achievable goals based on individual abilities.
- Design and deliver lessons based on good teaching practices.
