KIN 423 - Exercise and Stress


Units: 3
The physiology of the stress response, its role in disease, and the immediate and long-term relationship between exercise and stress.

Prerequisites: KIN 306, C- or better.
Strongly Recommended Preparation: KIN 306, B or better.
Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground.
Grading: A-F grading only.
Course Typically Offered: Variable Intermittently


Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
 

  1. Develop an understanding and appreciation of the nature of stress and its relationship to exercise.
  2. Understand the role and function of the neuro-endocrine response pathways and its effects on psycho-physiological systems.
  3. Understand the correlation and interaction of the stress response and major diseases.
  4. Develop an understanding of the effects of the stress response to exercise performance.
  5. Develop an appreciation and understanding of the role of systematic relaxation to psycho-physiological systems.
  6. Develop skills in presenting current understanding in both verbal and written forms
