BIOL 620 - Functional Genomics

Laboratory course covering genome-wide analysis of gene and protein function, using molecular techniques. Discussion and practice in experimental design, data mining, and data analysis. Lecture Units: 1; Lab Units: 2
Prerequisites: BIOL 415 or BIOL 427.
Strongly Recommended Preparation: BIOL 424 .
Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground.
Grading: A-F grading only.
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
- Demonstrate understanding of concepts and principles of Functional Genomics.
- Apply “data mining” strategies with modern experimental approaches to analyze gene function.
- Critically evaluate applications of Functional Genomics.
- Communicate scientific approaches in form of oral presentations and written lab reports.
