ART 279 - Printmaking I

Create, examine and analyze graphic art through experience with the basic materials, equipment, and processes of printmaking, including relief (linocut and woodcut), intaglio (etching), monotype, and stencil.

Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:

Utilize a range of printing techniques and materials in the printed expression of an idea;
Safely handle and maintain the print studio and equipment;
Express an awareness of the history and context of printmaking in relation to contemporary topics, and social, political and cultural issues;
Create a portfolio of work demonstrating technical, formal, conceptual, and material development in a range of printmaking techniques;
Evaluate and critique class projects using correct terminology in oral or written formats.
