PSYC 340 - Developmental Psychology Units: 4 Explores human development across the lifespan. Topics include theoretical foundations of development and research pertaining to cognitive and social-emotional development. Emphasis on the refinement of developmental research methods as a driver of the cutting edge research in the field.
Prerequisites: PSYC 200. Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground. Grading: A-F or CR/NC (student choice). Course Typically Offered: Fall & Spring
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
- Demonstrate understanding of the major theories in developmental psychology.
- Understand the use of the scientific method as applied to studying developmental processes and mechanisms of developmental change.
- Demonstrate knowledge of the key empirical findings in developmental psychology.
- Demonstrate awareness of how sociocultural context shaped the history of inquiry in the field.
- Relate concepts covered in class to real world settings, and examine how insights from the field can inform efforts to promote justice and fairness.
