This course offers students hands-on training in archaeological methods, including survey, excavation (digging), advanced methods of artifact analysis, and more. It puts archaeology in cultural context as well, exposing the potential for archaeological science to serve as a liberatory practice.

Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
- Apply the principles of scientific archaeology in a fieldwork and field-laboratory setting.
- Apply methods of archaeological statistics, survey, excavation, and flotation in the field, lab, and classroom.
- Cite important examples of archaeological field and laboratory work that have had positive social justice outcomes.
- Apply industry and academic standards in archaeological data collection and interpretation.
