STAT 492 - Capstone Project Units: 3 Community based project to solve a practical problem by applying and integrating the knowledge and skills learned in the Data Science degree program. Class requires data visualization, statistical modeling, discussion of ethical implications, and presentation.
Prerequisites: STAT 330 Co-requisites: STAT 432 Possible Instructional Methods: Hybrid. Grading: A-F grading only. Cross-listed: DADA 492 Course Typically Offered: Spring ONLY
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to: 1. Apply exploratory data analysis skills to a real-life problem from a community project
2. Develop statistical model to answer and analyze the project problem
3. Develop self-directed learning skills, interpersonal skills and group skills critical for a data science professional in an
interdisciplinary setting
4. Design a presentation discussing project learnings and propose solutions that are culturally appropriate and sensitive.
