ENGL 210 - Banned Books and Contested Narratives

Units: 4 ; Breadth Area: GE-C2; Social Justice
A study of selected banned books and contested narratives. Students will study narratives and their respective historical and cultural contexts; examination of power relations and efforts for social justice will be emphasized.

Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:

Analyze and interpret various kinds of texts using key concepts
Analyze literature in its historical and cultural context
Examine power relations at work in the production of a text
Discuss literature in a collaborative setting (online or in person)
Practice Internet and/or library research
Explain your ideas in a clear manner (written and/or oral) and support your points with textual evidence
