TED 594 - Diversity, Equity and Inclusive Teaching Practices for PK-3


Units: 3
Principles of educational diversity, equity, and inclusion in pedagogy, environment and curriculum, and the impact that families, school, and community play in the development of the PK-3 child.

Prerequisites:  

Acceptance into the PK-3 ECE Specialist Credential
Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground, or Hybrid, or Online-Asynchronous, or Online-Synchronous.
Grading: A-F grading only.
Course Typically Offered: Variable Intermittently


Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
1. Examine principles of educational diversity, equity, and inclusion, and their implementation in curriculum content and school practices for all children.

2. Develop the ability to recognize and eliminate bias and apply pedagogical practices to create equitable classroom communities that contribute to the physical, social, emotional and intellectual well-being of all children. 

3. Identify and apply knowledge about children’s assets, families, and community, including their prior experiences and interests, funds of knowledge, language, and sociocultural backgrounds, to engage and support them in learning. 

4. Create effective, positive classroom climates that are safe, fair, developmentally appropriate and culturally responsive to promote all children’s development and learning.
