TED 590 - Foundations in the Practice of Teaching PK-3 Units: 3 Theory and practical applications of learning principles for children as they pertain to education, including, instruction, planning, and environments. Incorporates developmentally and culturally appropriate practices to effectively engage with all families and communities.
Prerequisites:
Acceptance into the PK-3 ECE Specialist Credential Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground or Hybrid. Grading: A-F grading only. Course Typically Offered: Variable Intermittently
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
- Understand characteristics of typical and atypical children from birth to age eight, to engage and support all children in learning.
- Apply major principles of behavioral and cognitive learning theory and the role of play and active learning pedagogy in early childhood education.
- Design and differentiate a standards-based lesson that focuses on individual differences in children (learning, culture, language, home environment).
- Create inclusive environments that promote all children’s development and learning.
