ACCT 440 - Advanced Accounting Information Systems


Units: 3
Select advanced techniques to analyze internal accounting data for data-driven business decision-making. Learn how accounting subsystems operate and are integrated into a business information system using various up-to-date software and database software systems.

Prerequisites: ACCT 341 with grade C or better
Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground, or Hybrid, or Online-Asynchronous, or Online-Synchronous.
Grading: A-F grading only.
Course Typically Offered: Variable Intermittently


Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
  1. Demonstrate how to use database management systems to query and analyze internal accounting records.
  2. Demonstrate how to integrate Access and Excel to prepare financial budgets. 
  3. Explain how financial accounting subsystems operate within an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system.
