STAT 206 - Public Health Informatics and Technology

This course introduces public health informatics and technology. Students will gain an understanding of basic concepts of public health, including the history and structure of public health systems and an overview of public health information systems and data.  

Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground, or Hybrid, or Online-Asynchronous, or Online-Synchronous.
Grading: A-F grading only.

Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
  1. Analyze the guiding principles of population and public health as a discipline.
  2. Explain how technology can be used to improve a population’s health.
  3. Describe how information systems support public health practice, programs, and health policies.
  4. Differentiate between public health informatics and information technology.
