NURS 364 - Nursing Leadership and Innovation Units: 3 This course explores the expanded role of a nurse as a leader. We will integrate leadership concepts in informatics, quality improvement and patient safety principles when working in interdisciplinary team settings.

Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to: Apply selected leadership and management theories for professional development and to manage healthcare situations.
2. Develop communication techniques for optimal inclusive and interdisciplinary team communication and conflict management.
3. Apply principles of team building to group interactions.
4. Explore concepts of quality management to improve patient outcomes.
5. Apply principles of health equity, antiracism, and social justice to improve patient outcomes.
6. Apply principles of negotiation and conflict management to healthcare team situations.
7. Describe union and professional organization influences on nursing practice.
8. Describe the impact of organizational structure, technology, economic incentives, legislation, hierarchy, and culture on healthcare systems.
9. Develop and promote health care advocacy and diversity as a professional responsibility.
10. Describe the benefits and use of informatics in healthcare.
