CIVE 206 - Engineering Materials and Laboratory Units: 3 Introduction to the composition, structure, properties, and behavior of civil engineering materials. Experimental design, testing and analysis of construction materials. Prerequisite: CHEM 110 and PHYS 135.
Prerequisites: CHEM 110 and PHYS 135 Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground. Grading: A-F grading only. Course Typically Offered: Spring ONLY
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
- Understand the fundamental behavior of and the mechanical and non-mechanical properties of materials.
- Identify the testing methods for construction materials, and assess their properties in the laboratory.
- Evaluate the properties of different construction materials for their applications in different civil engineering design solutions.
- Create concrete mixture designs based on applicable engineering standards.
