ART 492 - Professional Practices Units: 1 Prepares students for a career after graduation. Students will plan professional development, job searches, create an online portfolio, resume, and materials necessary for successful advancement. Students make a plan to engage with their professional community and developments in their field.
Strongly Recommended Preparation: Senior Status Prerequisites: Art 491 BFA Critique Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground, or Hybrid, or Online-Asynchronous, or Online-Synchronous. Grading: A-F grading only. Course Typically Offered: Fall & Spring
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
- Anticipate and plan a course of professional development, including internship and job searches, interviews, grant applications, competition entries, and graduate school applications.
- Create an online portfolio of finished work demonstrating mastery of technical, formal, conceptual, and material concerns in their chosen Concentration.
- Develop Resumes/ Curriculum Vitaes, cover letters, and materials necessary for successful advancement in their field.
- Explain professional and legal issues such as copyright, intellectual property, model releases, etc., that impact their area of work.
- Have the plan to engage with a community of professionals and stay current with publications and developments in their field.
