PSYC 422 - Behavioral Genetics Units: 4 Behavioral genetics is a field of study that examines the role of genetics in animal and human behavior. We will explore principles of genetics and how gene-environment relationships influence physiology and behavior. Genetics of neurological and psychopathologies will be discussed.
Prerequisites: PSYC 320. Possible Instructional Methods: Online-Asynchronous. Grading: A-F or CR/NC (student choice). Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to: - Understand and describe basic Mendelian genetics and how genes regulate behaviors
- Explain the use of scientific methods as applied to genetic analysis of behavior
- Understand, describe and apply concepts of epigenetics and gene-environment interactions
- Apply concepts covered in class to real life conditions, such as neurological diseases, psychopathologies and basic behaviors and physiological processes.
