GS 311 - Strategies for Success in College and Career Units: 1 ; Breadth Area: GE-E Designed especially for transfer students, this course focuses on the strategies and resources that support the transition to CSUEB, bolsters academic success, builds community, and develops skills for career exploration.
Prerequisites: Junior or senior standing and department consent. Repeatability: May be repeated for credit for a maximum of 3 units. Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground, or Hybrid, or Online-Asynchronous. Grading: ABC/NC grading only. Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to: - establish a peer-support network with other transfer students;
- identify and use key campus resources and services;
- demonstrate self-advocacy and self-agency;
- explain and reflect on the importance of community engagement and its impact on personal growth and development;
- demonstrate skills related to sustained academic success, e.g., navigating Blackboard, time management);
- demonstrate skills related to career exploration (e.g., creating a resume and LinkedIn profile, professionalism and preparation, professional networking).
E. Lifelong Learning and Self-Development Learning Outcomes - develop intellectual, practical, and/or physical skills and abilities that will serve them throughout their lives;
- apply their learning to other pursuits within and outside of the classroom; and
- demonstrate the capacity to make informed and ethical decisions.
