TED 621 - Advanced Studies in Science Education Units: 3 Current practice and pedagogical issues related to science education, focusing on current national and state standards. Emphasis on inquiry-based learning, conceptual understanding and assessment of science while fostering classroom discourse.
Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground, or Hybrid, or Online-Asynchronous. Grading: ABC/NC grading only. Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to: - Explore and practice inquiry and other hands-on teaching techniques for science lessons.
- Apply techniques for improving accessibility of science content and skills for all students, including those who are linguistically diverse.
- Develop and demonstrate authentic assessment strategies for the science classroom.
- Analyze curriculum for relevance and connection to mathematics and English Language Arts skills, indicating appropriate pedagogical strategies to implement such curriculum.
