NURS 615 - Instructional Practicum: Teaching and Clinical Specialty Practices Units: 3 A teaching and practical experience to support the development of the nurse educator in a clinical specialty area. Under the supervision of an accomplished preceptor/mentor, students practice the role of nurse educator to actively engage nursing students, healthcare professionals and clients.
Prerequisites: All of: NURS 601, NURS 602, NURS 603, NURS 604, NURS 607, NURS 612, NURS 613, NURS 614. Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground, or Hybrid, or Online-Asynchronous. Grading: A-F grading only. Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
- Articulate the role of the nurse educator within the clinical setting, schools of nursing, and community.
- Describe the teaching, scholarship and service responsibilities of the nurse educator.
- Design nursing education curriculum using research and theories of learning instruction, curriculum, and evaluation.
- Design the learning goals and activities appropriate for nursing or health-related content.
- Utilize instructional strategies and educational technology in the planning and implementation in clinical, simulation lab, and didactic settings.
- Perform the role of educator to guide educational activities for nurses, patients, families, and communities.
- Analyze the impact of self in teaching-learning situations.
