NURS 607 - Contemporary Issues in Healthcare Economics and Social Policy Units: 3 Current national health economics and policy issues are analyzed with a focus on the impact to accessibility, affordability, and quality. Engagement strategies for advanced practice nurses in health policy development, implementation, and advocacy for public health are critically evaluated.
Prerequisites: M.S.N. major. Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground, or Hybrid, or Online-Asynchronous. Grading: A-F grading only. Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
- Analyze the influence of health policy on healthcare economics, systems and outcomes.
- Critically evaluate strategies for engagement of nurse leaders in health policy development, implementation, and advocacy.
- Examine the legal and ethical implications of policy for accessibility, affordability and quality of care.
- Effectively advocate for evidence-based policies that expand the scope of advanced nursing practice and promote professional growth, contributing to the advancement of the nursing profession.
- Analyze current public health issues and propose evidence-based policy solutions that address specific health concerns, effectively communicating and advocating for these policies to advance public health.
- Demonstrate the ability to critically evaluate the influence of healthcare policies on nursing practice, identify areas where regulations impact patient care, and propose evidence-based improvements to enhance the quality of healthcare delivery.
