EPSY 693A - Project in Marriage and Family Therapy

Units: 2-4
Development of an original product which is summarized in a written abstract. Both the project and the abstract are submitted to the department which specifies their formats. Supervision by a departmental committee, at least one of whom must be a Cal State East Bay faculty member. Oral defense may be required.

Prerequisites: Admission to M.S. Counseling: Marriage and Family Therapy Concentration.
Repeatability: May be repeated with department consent for a maximum of 4 units.
Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground, or Hybrid, or Online-Asynchronous.
Grading: CR/NC grading only.
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:

Development of a professional portfolio.
Demonstrate a knowledge of family systems theories and be able to successfully apply systemic theories in clinical practice.
Demonstrate an awareness of diversity and social justice issues, as well as demonstrate competence in working with diverse clinical populations.
Be knowledgeable of and successfully apply appropriate legal and ethical guidelines necessary for the competent practice of marriage and family therapy.
Conceptualize cases, articulate systemically-oriented treatment plans, and demonstrate overall competence in clinical practice and recovery-orientated care.
