HOS 360 - Lodging Alternatives Units: 3 Development and management of alternative forms of lodging available to customers, including timeshares, condotels, hostels, glamping, and adventure travel/lodging.

Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
- Describe the history of the timeshare industry and familiarization with timeshare terms.
- Recognize current trends in the timeshare industry and other lodging alternatives (e.g. condotels, hostels, glamping, and adventure travel/lodging).
- Identify operational differences between traditional lodging management and timeshare management.
- Describe the role of exchange companies.
- Recognize the difference between points and weeks in the timeshare industry.
- Describe marketing tactics employed in the timeshare industry and other lodging alternatives.
- Identify sales tactics employed in the timeshare industry and other lodging alternatives.
- Recognize the concept of condominium hotels
- Recognize the concept of fractionals. Recognize the concept of timeshare as it relates to destination clubs and residential cruises.
- Recognize the concepts and techniques involved in developer and consumer financing.
