MUS 467 - Applied Study: Composition

Units: 1-2
Individual instruction for music students at the Upper Division level. Students demonstrate progress before a faculty jury at the end of each semester. Audition required.

Prerequisites: 2 units of MUS180 Composers Workshop
Co-requisites: Minimum of one course from the MUS 351-355 series.
Repeatability: May be repeated for credit for a maximum of 8 units.
Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground.
Grading: A-F grading only.
Course Typically Offered: Fall & Spring

Develop technical skills through pedagogically appropriate repertoire, exercises, and drills.
Improve knowledge and awareness of musical style and performance practice.
Develop effective strategies for creating new repertoire, solving musical problems, and increasing facility in composition.
Bring a prescribed group of works to a performance-level standard of completion.
